Food Sensitivity Test

Food allergies and food sensitivities are commonly confused, and many don't realize that they are governed by separate immune mechanisms! 

Food allergies are generated by the IgE branch of the immune system, and reactions like rashes, throat swelling, shortness of breath, and vomiting may occur within a few minutes to a few hours of ingesting the trigger food. These reactions can be life-threatening. One the other hand, food sensitivities are governed by the IgA, IgM, and IgG branches of the immune system.  

Common symptoms include:

• Itchy skin or breakouts
• Headaches
• Joint pain or stiffness
• Brain fog, low mood, or irritability
• Muscle weakness
• Heart palpitations
• IBS, bloating, or reflux

Many  sensitivities can be reversed by removing the triggering foods for three to six months, then slowly adding them back into the diet and eating in limited amounts thereafter. The idea is to remove the trigger to allow the inflammation in the gut to heal. One that inflammation is resolved, the trigger food may be tolerated in the future.

IgG is the most common antibody found in blood and other body fluids. It is tasked with protecting against bacterial and viral infections. Looking at IgG reactions can single out the foods that are causing immune reactions 24-72 hours after you eat.
